[Fumbling sounds mixed with hisses of pain]

Who're you an' what the hell's yer problem? An' where am I!? What's goin' on!?

[Oh hey here's a strange looking person wrapped in bandages and wearing some hospital scrubs]

Oh dear...are you alright?

[The moment Jio realizes that someone else is in the room he wipes away his tears and acts like they were never there. He doesn't seem that surprised by the appearance of the person who's entered the room, though he's a bit wary.]

Why'd I wake up with a broken arm and leg? [He gestures to his left arm and leg, both in casts, and gives a slight wince of pain from the motion.] Who're you? An' where am I?

[Approaches slowly, with every step she makes some gentle tinkling noises like little bits of metal]

You're in the hospital, I'm afraid you were brought here with no real explanation for your injuries.

[A pink and green monster in a lab coat the hangs off her flying body floats in behind the woman]

We were hoping you could shed some light on the cause actually. I'm Doctor Lalamon and that is my partner Nurse Adorea.

[Jio looks a bit uncomfortable at her approach, but doesn't say anything about it. He blinks a couple of times at Lalamon's appearance, but doesn't give any indication that he finds this that strange.]

I'm Jio Freed. [He makes an awkward attempt at a bow from the bed and winces.] Nice to meet you.

[Formalities out of the way, he glances around the room briefly before his gaze falls on Shin Zero-Shiki, which is leaning against the wall next to the table with his folded clothes on it, well out of reach. He's working out the motions he'd need to make to reach it as he looks back to Adorea and Lalamon.]

Jus' woke up here like this. Last thin' I remember's fallin' from Rock Bird when it was breakin' up, but nothin' was broken then.

[That's not everything, but he's not gonna tell random people the other details. He looks at the stone embedded in his right palm for a moment, keeping it out of the other two's view before clenching his fist and gritting his teeth, trying to hold back tears.]

What's going on? Are you in pain?

[Lalamon flutters over instantly and presses some buttons to make adjustments to your IV drip.]

Please, tell me where it hurts.

[Adorea however has somehow moved to the other side of the bed without being noticed and gently places a hand on his wrist in a sort of calming sisterly way]

Please, you can trust us. We only wish to help.

[Jio flinches at the contact but forces himself not to jerk away.]

Y-yeah. I think the painkillers're wearin' off'r somethin'.

No problem no problem this should help.

[Increases the flow]

Would you like something to drink? Sometimes the painkillers can leave you thirsty.

Yeah, a drink'd be good.

[Adorea shuffles out of the room to do just that]

There we are, tell me when you start feeling the painkillers. You've still got some healing to do and we need you well rested.

[In a few moments he visibly relaxes. Maybe a bit more than expected, since the painkillers hadn't worn off quite as much as he might've led them to believe.]

Think I'm startin' to.

[He looks Lalamon over.]

I've seen a few livin' O-Parts before, but all of 'em were a lot bigger than you. An' the one that could talk didn't sound as smart. What's yer Effect?

Effect? Oh you mean um...well I'm a Digimon named Lalamon. You're in the digital world where we Digimon come from.

So different "Digimon" O-Parts have different names? Guess your O.P.T. gets to call ya whatever they want.

"Digital World"? Is this hospital inside a giant O-Part that makes "Digimon" then?

Uh...well I suppose you could say that, though I don't know what an O-part is, or an O.P.T.

Digimon are hatched from eggs, and the eggs come from Yggdrasil, the god of our world.

[And here's Adorea with that water]

Adorea is my partner. Everyone who comes to the digital world is assigned a partner.

Ya never heard of 'em? O-Parts're artifacts found in ruins all over the world. They've got different Effects, like makin' fire or teleportin' stuff, but ya gotta be an O.P.T., an "O-Parts Tactician", to use 'em.

But O-Parts don't come from eggs, so... [He takes the glass of water and chugs it.] So're digimon some kinda animal then?

You could say that yes.

Digimon come in many different forms, plants, animals, spirits, elements machines. You're not in your own world anymore so I'm guessing that O-parts won't be found.

Do you have computers in your world? That will make the explanation better.

[He jerks his head around to look straight at Adorea.]

What do you mean I ain't in my own world anymore!?

[She bows her head respectfully]

The Digital God Yggdrasil has pulled you here to fight along side the digimon, and others like you against the forces of evil to help save this world.

It's a little random it seems, and sooner or later he'll send you home again. But for now you're stuck here I'm afraid.

[Jio clenches his fists.]

...Who the hell's this Yggdrasil guy think he is!? Where's he get off kidnappin' people!? Where is he!? I'll make him send me back!

You'd be surprised how many people feel that way.

Unfortunately you can't really um...speak directly to him. If there's a place to stand before Yggdrasil and speak with him no one knows where it is.

There's gotta be someone he's talked to or nobody'd know about him. Unless someone jus' made him up.

Well I'm sure someone out there probably has, but it would have had to be fast and quiet or it would be all over the news. I mean sometimes you hear stories of people meeting Yggdrasil or seeing his image on things like burnt toast but those people seem kinda ya know...crazy.

Hm. There's gotta be some way to talk to him.

Oh dear...

That's your D-comm, a communicator that allows you to type, or speak to anyone else in the digital world with a D-comm. It also has a map, a storage system and several other functions.

It looks like someone isn't very happy you're here.

Guess that means someone I know's here. Dunno who it'd be though. I think all the people who'd want me dead're dead already.

So where do I go to get a digimon? Or's someone call me on this D-Comm thing?

Usually your Digimon partner will be nearby wherever you first arrived in the world.

And he'll be wearing a bracelet to match your D-comm. *

Partners and Digimon share an invisible bond that makes you reliant on one another.

You're emotions make you stronger or weaker depending on if they are positive or negative and if they sync with your partners emotions. The more the two of you get along the stronger you'll both become. *Still fiddling with his d-comm, she looks deeply concerned because she's able to put two and two together and has already figured out who sent that message.
